Wherever you go for work, you will have to perform as part of a team. How much ever specialized you labor will be, you will have to coordinate your work with other employees at the firm. So, it is natural that employers will test a candidate's capabilities of working as part of a bigger group.

Team work

While all candidates do expect to face such queries during the interview, many do not noticed them in their covert form. These questions will be relatively straightforward (How well do you perform in a team?) or disguised as a general question (Mention something your team achieved in your last job.)

Most candidates ramble on with cliched responses, from "I am willing to work longer hours", to "I help out my coworkers". Instead ofd stating the obvious, take a step forward and state how your presence will help the team perform better.

Your provide quality work, all the time.

One slacker can bring down the whole team. The whole team falls behind if your work is poor, if you fall short of deadlines, or if your work requires constant revisions. So, explain how your team can rely on the work you provide. Give examples to substantiate your statement.

You bring in specialized skills.

Every team expects each member to do their part perfectly. So, do some research and find out what responsibilities are attached to the positions. Now, frame an answer which demonstrates how your specific skills and experience will help you perform your tasks efficiently.

You can add that extra boost.

Teams work on individual contributions. However, you can score brownie points if you can add that extra zing to the team. Explain how you have the ability and experience to take on extra tasks and responsiblities, helping the team perform even better.

You can still think for yourself.

While in a team, you will mostly be expected to take orders and follow instructions. Yet, that doesn't mean you have to put your brain in deep freeze. Rather, current employers looks for candidates who can creatively contribute to team decisions and strategy. Demonstrate your individuality during other phases of your interview to get it across to the manager.
