Responsibilities
• Identify technical problems that need to be solved, and work with producers, developers and other partners to solve them
• Manage a team of studio engineers to maintain build systems and tools, coding standards and repositories for the products produced in the UK studio
• Develop the technical competency of staff
• Work with other technical directors to ensure adequate delivery of 3D and connected features in the games
• Maintain knowledge of technical resources and solutions available throughout the company, and make them available to your development teams
• Lead to process of evaluating project risks (technical and organizational), and possible solutions
• Lead creation of realistic Technical Design Documents (TDD) and schedules (working with production and development teams)
• Assist producers in evaluating project milestones, and overall progress
Audit development plans including technical designs, resource usage, task estimates, quality and risk.
• Audit code for quality
• Audit milestone deliverables for technical completion and quality
• Optimize game development processes
• Promote and implement software development best practices.
• Provide trouble shooting, debugging and problem solving assistance.
• Provide technical information about game console hardware and software development practices
• Anticipate technical problems and communicate status to appropriate management level (team or cross-team).
